After a two week holiday of cheat meals, beverages by the pool, and skipped workouts it was definitely time for me to give my body a refresh! You may look at a program like this and have these assumptions:
1. I’m going to be hungry.
2. I won’t have any energy.
3. I won’t get to eat real food.
4. I’ll think every person I look at is a hamburger (or ice cream, whatever your preference!)
After doing two rounds of the 3 Day Refresh (one in July and one this past week), I will tell you that all of those assumptions were proven false for me. Of course everyone is different and your bodies will all react differently, but I had ZERO problem with any of the above issues.
1. I’m going to be hungry.
Waking in the morning and right before I went to sleep, I certainly felt a grumbling in my stomach but let’s be honest – aren’t you SUPPOSED to feel hungry at some points?? So many of us eat because it is a certain time of day (it’s 12:00, I’d better eat lunch!) or because there is a yummy food in front of us. The way to healthy eating and healthy relationship with food is to eat when you are hungry, not when you think you are supposed to. I found that the combination of the Vanilla Fresh shakes with the vegetables and healthy fats kept be satisfied and were yummy! I used the Vanilla Fresh for dinner as my desert because I think it tastes like a vanilla milkshake :)
2. I won’t have any energy.
This was definitely not a problem for me. On Monday (Day 1), I took a rest day from exercise because I was very sore from my run and Insanity Max 30 from the weekends. However, I slept like a baby that night! On Tuesday (Day 2), I came home from work around 5 feeling a little hungry but took my shot of E&E and completed a relaxed 6 mile run. On Wednesday (Day 3), I got my cross training in with Max 30 Tabata Power and crushed the workout compared to the week before. Obviously, energy was NOT an issue!

You can check out my meal plan here and see that while I was having three shakes a day, they were all in conjunction with a “real” food – banana with breakfast, salad & fruit with lunch, hummus & veggies for snack, and veggies with dinner. While that may not be everyone’s favorite food it IS real food! Not only that but they are the types of food that give you the energy and fullness you need to get away from assumptions 1 and 2.

If you are starting this program to kick start a new healthy eating style, you may struggle to give up those Diet Cokes or late night ice cream bowls, but isn’t that the point? You WANT to find a way to kick those cravings! Because those are not staples in my current meal plan, I had no issue with craving junk food. I did miss my oatmeal in the morning and my turkey or chicken at dinner but that was more because I am a crazy creature of habit who feels strange getting out of my routine.
Now that you know my experience with the 3DR, you may be asking yourself if it is something you’d like to try. If you fall into any of these categories, I highly recommend it!

So, what were my results?
I lost 3.6 pounds in the three days, which brought me down to my lowest weight in two years! That means that I was able to get through the holidays and actually LOSE weight!
I also gained a huge sense of accomplishment knowing that I was able to stick to my plan, even when my husband was eating yummy dinners next to me. I also now look at tempting foods and make the decision that I worked too hard during those three days to let a bite (or 10) take that success away from me!

Once you complete the three days you will have the sense of accomplishment that you can commit to a healthy plan and you can resist temptations that you know aren’t a part of your plan.
- Getting ready for an event or vacation – The 3 Day Refresh is a fantastic way to rid yourself of water weight and just feel great about the way you look! If you are getting ready to put on that hot red dress for a class reunion or your bikini for your anniversary beach vacation, dropping a few pounds and feeling fabulous is a great start.
- Returning from a vacation or the holidays – We all know that we give into temptations and indulge on vacations or holidays, allowing us to feel not so great when we return. Completing the 3 Day Refresh after these types of events can get your body (and mind) back on track for your healthy lifestyle and help you shed some of those added pounds and inches.
Who this is NOT for:
- Anyone who is looking for a quick fix with weight loss. The 3 Day Refresh is not designed nor recommended for you to use over and over and drop weight.
