For the past few months I have been in the driver seat of challenge groups, motivating others to stay focused on their goals and providing advice with different programs. This past week I have joined a group of awesome challengers to test out the brand new 21 Day Fix Extreme and I have been able to remember how beneficial a challenge group can be! On those nights when I don’t feel like working out, I know my fellow members are going to check on me. Challenge groups and coaches are the KEY piece that Beachbody offers its customers to help them achieve their goals faster and with more success!
While I’ve been using the Extreme Countdown to Competition meal plan (more on that in a minute), I have stuck with my Insanity Max: 30 workouts. I didn’t want to take a break in the middle of the program and truly love the competition with myself to max out each time. I haven’t taken any new measurements, but I can already tell a huge difference in my body! My clothes are fitting looser around my midsection, hips and legs. This is huge for me because it is the hardest place for me to lose the jiggle! I am also seeing a significant change in my strength and endurance during the workouts.

The Cardio Challenge workout is used each week as your fit test to measure your growth. I have been able to increase my max out time with the Cardio Challenge from 10:55 to 16:33 in just three weeks! I know that if I stick with this challenging program, that I’ll be able to complete the entire 30 minutes without maxing out by the end of month 2. That goal is what keeps me pushing my limits each day.
A key part of being successful during these workouts is the nutrition. I know that if I eat too much or too little before the workout that it significantly effects my ability to push. Too little causes me to become lightheaded while doing jumps or burpees and too much causes me to have side cramps. I have used the last few weeks to really perfect my meal planning to help me get the most out of my workout. I know that I have talked a lot about how important meal planning is and it isn’t just about the food and recipes, it is also about the time of day and how much time you leave between meals. If you notice on this week’s meal plan, I’ve included times for each meal. This is helping me make sure I am keeping my metabolism revved up, that I’m getting enough water, and that I have enough fuel for each workout.
Brian and I are both creatures of habit and don’t mind repeating meals throughout the week, so our meal plans are pretty basic. I’ve also found that repetitive meals allow for me to buy in bulk and save money on our weekly grocery bill. I am making the Beef & Squash Stew at the beginning of the week to have it available for busy week nights and I have bought frozen turkey burgers (on sale!) that are easy for us to pop on the grill with some creative seasonings.

One of the things that I love about this meal plan is that it is NOT a diet, it is a lifestyle! We snuck a little cheat meal in on Friday night and I was surprised at the conversation we had afterwards. We both agreed that we didn’t enjoy it as much as we thought we would and that we just didn’t feel that great after eating it. Our bodies and minds have been transformed by making the cleaner, healthier choices and we simply enjoy feeling good!!
