We are in the dead of summer and there has been much to celebrate so far! But what normally comes with celebration? Food, drinks, and busy schedules that keep the workouts away. It is time for us to get BACK ON TRACK! Here are 5 important tips to help you get your health back on track.
1. Set a goal.
I am that person that will add a completed task to a to do list, just so I can cross it off. There is some form of satisfaction that comes with visually seeing myself get closer to a goal, even the tiniest of goals. Health and fitness is no different for me. I love having programs to follow and deadlines to meet – it pushes me to stay focused. That being said, I get that not everyone is the same as me and can feel pressure rather than motivation when a giant looming goal is ahead of them. If that is you, start small. Regardless, working towards a goal will always help you stay focused. Here are examples of different goals you might set for yourself:
· Drink a certain number of glasses of water each day
· Fit into a specific piece of clothing
· Complete a race or other fitness accomplishment
· Workout 4 days in a week

2. Create a plan.
The saying goes that if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. This is SO true! When you don’t have a plan and you fly by the seat of your pants you are way more likely to wander off your path and force yourself to start at square one again. Make it a priority to create both a meal plan and fitness plan for the week. When you take the guesswork out of living a healthy lifestyle, you are far more likely to stay on track.
If you need help creating a meal plan, join my mailing list to get a copy of our weekly meal plans. Any Beachbody program that you may be participating it will provide you with a fitness schedule, so they take the guesswork out it for you!

3. Focus on your WHY.
Even when you have made the decision to get back on track, you have a goal in mind and a plan set, there is still going to be a time when you are feeling frustrated or unmotivated to keep working. That is where you WHY comes in. This is different for everyone. Your why is what initially made you decide to get healthy. Your why may be completely selfish – to look good in a bathing suit, to wear a wedding dress, to look hot at your reunion, to reverse a health concern – or it could be focused on other people in your life – more energy to run around with your kids, setting an example for your loved ones. Whatever your why is, it has to be something that you can rely on to bring you out of your funk when you want to give up. That funk will come, be armed and ready with a solid, meaningful WHY.
4. Drink lots of water.
The other tips are going to get you started and keep you going, but this tip is going to be one that will keep the ball rolling. We all know how important drinking water is for our health but it is especially important when you are moving from those “bad” habits to your smart habits. Your body will go through a period of detox when it will miss the sugar, processed foods, and other bad things causing you to feel hungry or have headaches. This is where the water will help tremendously! You are also starting back into fitness. Your body needs the water for hydration to keep you at a level where you can push yourself during your workouts. Don’t skip out on the water!

5. Find a support system.
It is proven that people who make changes in their lives with the support of other people are far more successful. This support can look different for everyone. You may have your spouse on board with you, a best friend, a co-worker. Those are all great support systems IF they are someone you can count on to not let you fall back into your old habits. Sometimes those are the very people who got you off track to start with. If that is the case, they may be a part of your back on track journey and doing their own revamping but may not be the people for you to rely on for support. Finding a person or group of people who are dedicated and ready to be that support for you will help you be far more successful in your journey. A Beachbody coach is a fantastic resource – they are driven and dedicated to helping others achieve their goals!
